TELEREEDUCATION: the EQUIVIRT study

The EQUIVIRT study is part of the TELEREEDUCATION project. It is a multicentre study coordinated by the Pôle Saint Hélier in partnership with the Hôpital de la Musse (Eure).

This study aims to compare postural balance responses in an immersive virtual environment using a virtual reality headset versus the real world.

To this end, the company ARTEFACTO (Rennes) created a virtual environment reproducing an identical care room. 70 people were included in this study in order to evaluate their standing balance reactions in the two real and virtual situations.

This study shows that the virtual environment induces an increase in postural reactions.

These data have a major clinical impact on the orientation of patients in virtual rehabilitation.
